Special Announcement – January 2021
Jesus’ final commandment to his disciples was “Love one another as I have loved you.” As Christians, we understand that commandment to mean love without limits. The Apostle Paul would say love the weakest ones around you.
Throughout this COVID-19 pandemic, Shavertown UMC has tried to do just that…love the weakest ones around us by following all the safety protocols suggested by the CDC. Yet, with the drastic rise in infection rates, it has become increasingly more difficult to do. As a result, our Church Council has agreed with the recommendation of our Bishop and Cabinet that the best way to love right now is to do no harm. Therefore, we are suspending all in person worship and gatherings until further notice.
We will however continue to celebrate the coming of Christ through our online worship on this website.
You are invited to continue to worship online on this website or on our Facebook page. Online worship is avilable 24/7.
For pastoral emergencies, call Pastor Robin on her cell phone. The number is (570) 220-1138.
IN PERSON WORSHIP
In person worship is temporarily suspended. Please see the “Special Announcement – January 2021” section above for more information.

Sponsor a Senior
Our church family is looking to spread some extra love and support to all of our SUMC High School and College Seniors. The Class of 2020 had their Senior year cut short due to COVID-19. Many have missed out on some of the best times such as graduation, prom, class trips, final sports seasons, internships, award ceremonies etc. leaving the Senior Class of 2020 heartbroken. How can we help to bring some joy to them from their SUMC family?
You can sign-up to “Sponsor an SUMC Senior“. What does that mean?
