MEN’S BREAKFAST - Back Mountain Men’s Ecumenical Group continues to grow. Come join us. We not only grow in numbers but grow in community involvement. To quote Henry David Thoreau, “It is not enough to be busy; so are ants. The question is: What are we busy about?” Tuesday morning at Pickett’s at 8:00 AM is the time and place to be. There are a number of friends here at Shavertown that would be happy to introduce you – ask Gene, Jarrett, Joe, Phil, Skip, etc.

KIDNEY NEEDED - There is a 30-year-old, young man who is in need of a second kidney transplant and has been on dialysis since January 2007. We are asked to pray for him and also prayerfully consider giving the gift of life by becoming a living donor. The donor must be under the age of 60, in general good health with no hypertension or diabetes, and be O blood type. If you feel led to inquire further about the possibility of being a living donor to this young man, please call 570-239-8238 for more information. Thank you.

Inspirational 2009 Wall Calendars - SUMC is selling beautiful, inspirational 2009 wall calendars. They make great inexpensive Christmas gifts at a price of only $6! Calendars are available in the narthex for cash and carry. Checks made payable to SUMC. If you have pre-ordered a calendar, please pick up your calendar after church. Supplies are limited. Please contact Nancy Liskosky for more info.

Fresh Wreath Sale - A wreath made of evergreen boughs has long been used as a Christmas decoration and the smell of fresh balsam will help create holiday memories that will please you or that special someone on your gift giving list. Orders for fresh, live wreaths will be taken in the church narthex after the services on Nov. 8, 9, and 10 and Nov. 15 and 16. Mr. Gary Mazer, local craftsman, will create these items again this year. Prices will be the same as last year with a few new items available. This sale will benefit the general fund of the church.

MITTEN TREE - 2008 Mitten Tree is up! The Sunday school is sponsoring the collection of mittens, scarves, gloves, socks and hats. Bring your donation from now until the weekend before Thanksgiving and hang it on the Tree located in the Narthex. The items will be shipped to the Red Bird Mission in Beverly, Kentucky.

BACK MOUNTAIN BLOOD DRIVES The first drive will beheld at the Dallas American Legion, Memorial Highway, Dallas, on Tuesday, November 18, 2008 from 12:00 noon to 5:30 P.M. On Tuesday November 25, 2008 the Fellowship Evangelical Church, 45 Hildebrant Road, Dallas, will sponsor a drive from 1 PM to 6 PM. The double red unit will be at both drives. Blood supplies remain low and your help is desperately needed. Please set aside an hour of your precious time to donate and save a life. Each donation of blood helps three individuals in their time of need. A pre-scheduled appointment can be made to reduce the time needed for donating. To schedule an appointment call 823-7164, extension 2150.

SAVE THE DATE! Old Fashioned Holiday Potluck and Game night! Tuesday, December 30th at 5:30pm. A Christmas celebration for our congregation. All are invited! Plan on joining in for a night of food, fun and fellowship.
